Landmark Broadcast to Address High Value Integrated Care

FT. WAYNE, IND. - These are very challenging times for both patients and physicians in health care with many factors contributing to the urgency for health care reform.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Goshen Center for Cancer Care will be participating in a special televised broadcast at Fort Wayne's WFWA PBS 39 television station to explore the topic, "High Value Integrated Care: Is this the health care model of the future?"

The cancer center recently addressed this topic at the national level during an August health care forum hosted by former Sen. Bob Dole in Lawrence, Kan. At the Senator's invitation, Goshen Health System President and CEO James O. Dague and Goshen Center for Cancer Care's Medical Director Doug Schwartzentruber, MD, FACS, presented aspects from Goshen's integrated health care model. Sen. Dole had recognized the effectiveness of Goshen's integrated model after visiting its facilities in June.

The panel discussion addressed ways to empower patients to access and effectively use high value care while highlighting the unique qualities of the cancer center from its multidisciplinary approach and salaried physicians to the integrated method that eliminates the duplication of services and puts the patient at the center of its decision-making process.

Goshen Center for Cancer Care will continue the discussion in a live, televised broadcast dialogue on high value integrated care and whether this patient-focused care is the health care model of the future. The half-hour live show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 and is presented in conjunction with Fort Wayne's PBS 39. The broadcast will feature a moderator and a panel of cancer center physicians, including Doug Schwartzentruber, MD, FACS, surgical oncologist and medical director; Marcia Prenguber, NP, FABNO, naturopathic physician and director of integrated care; and Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, breast surgeon.
