5K/10K Race and Walk to Benefit Cancer Research
Goshen, Ind. – A charitable 5K/10K race and Family Fun Walk will be held as a part of the annual Great Goshen Grill Out. The race will be held Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 8 a.m. The cost for runners pre-registering is $20 and will be $25 on race day. The cost for walkers pre-registering is $15 and will be $20 on race day. Awards will be given on the main stage at 10 a.m. to the top male and female finishers for both races.
Proceeds from Race to the Great Goshen Grill Out will go to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. The Center for Cancer Care at Goshen Health System chose the foundation to raise awareness of Mesothelioma and also in remembrance of Beth Miller who was a Mesothelioma victim and colleague at Goshen General Hospital.
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the Mesothelium, which is the lining that surrounds the lungs, the stomach and the heart. The main risk factor for Mesothelioma is contact with asbestos.
